A Sunday on La Grande Jatte
One of my favorite projects to work on was when the folks from A&E Biography reached out to see if I wanted to tackle an educational video to celebrate the birthday of painter Georges Seurat, specifically through an exploration of his most famous masterpiece A Sunday on La Grande Jatte.
With a script in hand, I wanted to be able to use the visuals not just to illustrate the main educational points but to use them as an opportunity to reference other works, relationships, and techniques, as well as cultural and historic connections that might create an even richer viewer experience.
Research and preparation are a big part of what I do on a project like this and while that learning process can be personally rewarding, it can also be vital to bringing tonal and historical accuracy, along with fun easter eggs, to a project like this.
