UN REST RANT
COVER OF DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN
For the cover of this issue of the Long Island University literary magazine Downtown Brooklyn, I revisited a notebook sketch from two years prior. Junior's Restaurant is a prominent Brooklyn landmark, but especially so to students and faculty of the LIU campus across the street from it. There's an existential strangeness to the way, from time to time, the city's signage flickers and fades into its own unique poetry.
The issue also contained an inside spread of other observational illustrations and comics in this same vein. I dubbed the series 'Misconnected', and it would go on to appear in MAD Magazine, The NYPress and other corners of the universe. Check out more from the below collection here.
