In an era of upheaval and strangeness brought on by a global pandemic and increasingly digital world, I thought to present a window into something more distant, a hazy exploration of shapes and images that play with themes of nostalgia. The imagery was reinterpreted from early 20th century photography books of the work of Edward Weston and Aaron Siskind using ink and Wite-Out on small square sticky notes, thus creating a naturally occurring grid. Unused parts of this series can be seen below.
(I always enjoy these unintended remnants of projects, leftover scraps and spills creating shapes to potentially inspire a design down the road…)
